SERVICES
Seawave Mining provides a full range of Ventilation, Gas Drainage,
Strata Control, Geotechnical services and general mining technical
support from its Mackay based Queensland operation. Services provided
consist of:
Operational Ventilation and Gas Drainage Services –
- Gas Drainage Management –
Seawave Mining personnel are able to design both surface to inseam
and inseam gas drainage by development of scopes and tender documents
through to complete project management such as goaf drainage.
We can provide gas monitoring and gas drainage management services
for specific project work including day to day support for mine
site based projects.
- Ventilation Management - Ventilation
officer assistance or statutory provision as well as all facets
of Ventilation. Including, Final seal management plans, Inertisation
plans and implementation. Ventilation modelling, Ventilation design
for mine closure or expansion. Ventilation surveys, gas monitoring
interpretation.
- Operational Strata Control Services
–
- Borescope Studies (Mine supplied only)
– whilst not a common strata management tool at a mine site
level, borescope studies are of great value in defining actual
conditions in areas where monitoring data may not be available
and visible conditions may be misleading. It is a valuable and
low cost input into secondary support design where meaningful
knowledge of existing conditions is an essential aspect in determining
appropriate and cost-effective support measures.
- Audit/Review Studies –
external consultants can be of value in the undertaking of audits
and reviews of such issues as support rules, mine layouts and
Strata Management Plans. A perspective unencumbered by formal
links with an operation, yet still fully covered by Duty of Care
considerations, whilst not essential, can add much to their efficiency
and overall effectiveness.
- Strata Design and Feasibility Studies
– our Mackay based staff are able to act as the local contacts
and project manager for larger geotechnical design and feasibility
type studies by utilising our own knowledge and experience base
and provides for far better interaction with local mine sites.
- PUR Injection Design and Fault Consolidation
– Seawave Mining has knowledge and experience, gained through
practice in PUR injection and strata consolidation, in both proactive
and reactive measures for Longwall and Development mining operations.
Our staff can provide professional guidance, project management
and design for all strata consolidation situations.
- Extensometer or Tell Tale Monitoring
and Data Input

Our Business manager and secretarial support can input data cost
effectively and combined with our consultants interpretation experience
can provide a outsourced external monitoring support and provide
the client with daily updates and notification of any variations
which require attention which can be missed onsite due to resource
demands. The service also provides an advantage of data management
and document control which is also a task which does not get priority
due to resource demands onsite.
General Mining Technical Support –
The Queensland operation has staff capable of providing varied mining
technical support and project management. The experienced staff
can provide services for short durations up to regular ongoing support.
Examples of the type of services that can be provided include:
- Peak Demand Assistance –
as with most operational roles, strata control ventilation and
mine planning has peaks and troughs in terms of resource demand.
For example, the driveage of longwall installation roadways is
an increased strata control risk and often requires round the
clock monitoring and management as does Final sealing Longwall
panels for ventilation. Similarly, site based Technical Services
personnel cannot be on-site 52 weeks a year. Our Mackay office
is able to offer a short-term Technical Services contracting service
to assist mine management provide adequate experienced Technical
Services resources as and when required.

- Mine Design and Mine Planning –
Seawave Mining can provide mine design and mine planning for specific
projects, resource recovery, annual reports or life of mine scheduling.
Planning and scheduling can be carried out using spreadsheet based
software or MS Project, Suretrak,XPAC with mine plans and design
work shown graphically using AutoCAD.
- Project Management –
Queensland Office personnel have the skills and experience to
complete project management services from contract development
through to full contract support for mine site based projects.
This includes liaison between the company and the contractor to
ensure compliance, quality of work, cost control and safety requirements
are achieved.
- Supervisory Assistance –
Seawave Mining can offer supervisory assistance for most operational
and technical roles where personnel are on leave or during peak
periods of work. The Mackay Office has personnel with current
statutory qualifications and operational experience to assist
with statutory inspections and production leadership for all aspects
of mining.
- Risk Management and Systems Development
– Experienced staff are able to act as risk management facilitators
to proactively risk assess mine site issues, new equipment or
as a means of incident investigation. Systems and procedures can
be developed to meet the mine’s objectives, statutory requirements
or improve productivity. The secretarial support can provide onsite
fast provision of risk assessment documentation and other documentation
which can be neglected onsite due to lack resources.
- Audit/Review Studies –
As an external consultant, Seawave Mining can undertake audits
and reviews of such issues as statutory procedures, management
systems, mine layouts and Hazard Management Plans even quality
assurance development, implementation to accreditation. The Mackay
Office staff can perform gap analysis and system verification
as a simple tool to assist the mine to meet its compliance objects.
- Training and Assessment - Our
staff can provide the missing link between operational and technical
services with the ability to not only design and implement but
provide training and assessment to competency based training or
develop training package for site specific innovation that can
be mapped to a competency standard. The ability to provide training
in combination with a 3rd Class Certificate of Competency and
Ventilation Officer competency allows a complete package to be
developed.
